Summary

The next chapter is titled “Security Office.” The subtitle reads: “The Sleazoid Hollywood Ranch Market, 5/14/55.” Freddy writes up his article for the Confidential but leaves Jimmy's name out. Freddy learns that Rock has been arrested. Bob arranges bail, and Freddy and two friends rush to get Rock out. They leave the police station by the back door and find lots of reporters. Freddy and another man fight their way out, smashing the cameras in the process. Bob pays off the reporters. Freddy talks to Babs who says movie executive Nick Adams has been pushing young actors into stunts that he films. She assumes he will be using the films for blackmail later. She says Jimmy is likely to play Cary Chessman (the Red Light Bandit) in an upcoming movie.
