Summary

The next chapter is titled “Outside the Horvath Death Pad.” The subtitle is the date, “2/19/54.” Freddy arranges a situation for Rock to meet Claire. Rock reluctantly plays his part. Freddy goes through the Horvath house. He finds one unknown fingerprint the police missed and locates a hole where a bug had been. He feels sure it was planted a long time ago. Freddy finds that one of her columns is about Steve's kindhearted visit to a children's hospital. She calls him a “gifted and sensitive artist” (94). Freddy feels the article is disingenuous.
