Summary

Part one is titled Shakedown. The subtitle reads: Freddy Otash Confession, Part 1. The first chapter is titled “Cell 2607.” The subtitle reads: “Penance Penitentiary; Reckless-Wrecker-of-Lives Block; Pervert Purgatory; 7/16/2020.” Freddy has been in jail 28 years and will be released if he writes his memoirs. He hates a lot about prison, including the bad food and the lack of alcohol and women. Freddy writes about the things he did in the 1950s, including arranging for people to be “outed” in the magazine called Confidential, which he called the precursor to the Internet. According to Freddy, the information online is mild compared to what they printed in Confidential. He talks about some of the people he encountered, pledges to be honest, and says his “march down memory lane begins NOW” (4).
