Min puts a ring of old-fashioned skeleton keys in the box. She bought them the morning of the Halloween parties to go with their costumes—she a warden and Ed a prisoner. Min's mom talks to her about how different she and Ed seem to be or information Min's mom has obtained from talking to Jordan's mom. When Min arrives at Ed's party that night, Ed isn't there yet. When he shows up, he's with the chain gang that is the basketball team, and he is drunk.
