Pages 1-23 Summary

The main character, Min, is writing letters to her ex-boyfriend, Ed, to explain to him precisely why they broke up. Her first letter is to go on the top of a box that she is dropping off on Ed's front porch. The box contains various items that she collected throughout their relationship. She says they dated from October until November, and she's writing the letter and dropping off the box in December.

Min tells Ed that the thunk noise he hears is the box hitting his front porch. Min explains she found a box in the basement of her house.
