Racism
Racism is explored throughout the book through multiple points of view, such as education, healthcare, and feminism. The author, Eddo-Lodge, examines racism throughout history and how it has developed through the years, but she also draws upon her own experiences as a Black woman in Great Britain.
Great Britain is often overlooked in discussions about racism, but Eddo-Lodge emphasizes that it has a history of slavery, just like the U.S. Historically, racism was an awful hatred for Black people, but this has changed throughout the years. Now, the blatant mistreatment of Black people is looked down upon by almost everybody, but being Black in the UK is a disadvantage in all aspects of life.
