Summary
In Chapter 5, titled The Feminism Question, Eddo-Lodge begins to address systemic racism involving feminism. Throughout the chapter, there are many examples of white-washed feminism in Great Britain. The first example is Lena Dunham’s television show Girls, which was released in 2012. The program was praised as a progressive show that depicted the true struggles of a young woman. Although there were important points addressed in the show, with an all white cast it ultimately failed to represent true feminism.
The next example shared was Eddo-Lodge's experience on BBC’s radio show titled Woman’s Hour. The show was called to discuss the feminism progress of that year. In the group of women that met for the show, Eddo-Lodge was the only Black female present.
