Summary

In “Tunnel Vision,” Diski begins by considering how different people reacted to the news of Princess Diana’s death. Diski, herself, stayed home and watched television coverage and considered how the events “were strange on a scale beyond anything I’d encountered” (269). Diski claims that if all of the glitz and glam that surround the princess were to be taken away, all that is left is really a messy divorce and other personal calamities. Diski considers much about the princess’s life to be pedestrian. Diski sees contradictions in Diana in that she would do charity work while also being quite entrenched in all the trappings of a royal lifestyle.
