Summary
In “Mirror Images,” Diski discusses Piers Morgan. She begins by sharing his words after being fired from The Mirror. She says that he implores people to lighten up and not take life too seriously. Diski says that the three things that mattered to Morgan were good stories, sales figures, and adrenaline rushes. She says that she feels despair when she looks at tabloids in the grocery store aisle, and she felt this same despair reading Morgan’s diaries. She realizes that Morgan took the world of celebrity gossip very seriously. The people he wrote about took him very seriously as well.
