Summary
Seth becomes aimless and disoriented, unsure of what to do next. His only remaining connection to Carter is Carter’s record collection in their apartment. One day, Leonie and Marc pass Seth on the street, and they seem to ignore him. One day soon, Seth happens to pass Jim on the street, and Seth demands to speak with him. They go back to Jim’s apartment, and Seth explains what happened to Carter. Jim still insists that Charlie Shaw is real. Jim tells Seth the story of Jim’s connection to Charlie Shaw, although the narrative does not relate the story to the reader at that time. The story seems very strange to Seth, and yet he cannot shake the feeling that it must somehow be true. Seth later finds Leonie, who still feels sad and scared regarding Carter’s situation.
