Structure
White Magic is told in a series of essays, with a variety of different structures to them. It is divided into an introduction and three distinct acts, each with small descriptions of tarot cards that relate to Washuta’s life. There is not a set progression between each of these essays and many jump around in both Washuta’s life and the timeline of history. Each act also contains an introduction in which Washuta describes the beginning, middle, and ending of a story in a literary way. Each act also includes three essays, but there is not an obvious reason that the essays are put in the order that they are in. There is, however, a small progression in Washuta’s views on life as she comes to understand through her writings that she deserves better than the various men she has dealt with in her life...
