Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks is a television series and movie that Washuta uses in the essay titled “The Spirit Cabinet.” She often uses it as a comparison to her own life and references many events from the show The Black Lodge, for example, is an area in the show where negative spirits and energy emerge and the main character, Cooper, is trapped. Cooper’s relationship with Diane is also compared to Washuta’s relationship with Carl as she leaves him because she does not recognize him anymore in the same way that Carl and Washuta break up. Furthermore, Twin Peaks is primarily filmed near Washuta’s home so she sees herself in its story.
