Summary
"The Spirit Corridor" opens with the same quotes from the first essay. Washuta describes a riddle at the gates of heaven where one guardian always tells the truth and one always lies. Only one guards the door to heaven, but she is looking for something else. She goes to Carl’s house, much to his surprise.
Washuta says that her first Ohio winter was spent in an old rental home. However, she starts looking for a forever home when she learns that Amazon’s headquarters may move into town. None of the doors inside are locked. However, she was locked out by accident and eventually got inside by using a garden spade. She thinks of all the boyfriends who told her she was awesome and Carl who still consumes her life.
