Summary

Part 2, Chapter 4 begins in the Fall of 1943. Pastor Luc called Julien to his office and told him that he will be placed in advanced mathematics. Julien noticed something on Pastor Luc’s desk. After sundown, he snuck into Pastor Luc’s office to obtain the item. He was so excited to show it to Sara that he did not go home first. Instead, he went directly to the barn, even though it was not completely dark outside yet. He arrived at the barn and surprised Sara with the item: her sketchbook! Sara hugged Julien, blushed, and thanked him for the sketchbook.

They heard someone coming toward the barn. Julien told Sara to go up to the loft and hide. He went to the car in the barn to pretend he was fixing it. In Chapter 5, Sara recognized the voices of the people...
