Chapter Ten Summary
Mom gets home just as the police leave and Sarah has to reassure her that she is fine and nothing was taken. Mom asks why Sarah didn't run out the back door and Sarah explains the deadbolt was locked and the key was gone. When they each look at the door the key is clearly visible. Mom, like the police, doubts Sarah's story. They split up to survey the house for anything missing, and Sarah heads upstairs to her room. Rosa points Sarah toward the bottom drawer of her dresser, where Sarah discovers the packet is missing. She briefly considers Tony as the thief but decides that is unlikely.
