Chapter Eight Summary
While they think Sarah is asleep on the couch, Mom and Dad discuss how they still feel lied to by the entire neighborhood. Dad suggests they try to take Sarah's example and make some friends. Sarah heads upstairs to bed and reexamines Rosa's medal. Sarah dreams that Rosa is in the room with her and covered in blood. Sarah asks Rosa not to come to her in dreams. The next day Mom invites Sarah to the plumbing store but Sarah opts to stay home and put the books on the bookshelf. Sarah wishes Marcie would write but she is afraid to be the first one to write between the two of them.
