Chapter 6 Summary
Neeve tries to talk to Myles about her concerns about Ethel. He suggests to her that Ethel might have bought a coat elsewhere. Neeve continues to believe that Ethel did not do this. Meanwhile in Ethel's apartment, Douglas Brown is happy the area is clean, but is suddenly afraid that the maid might have found, and stolen, some of Ethel's hidden money. Doug, himself, has been stealing the one-hundred-dollar bills his aunt has her alimony payments changed into. He believed that Ethel might have discovered his thefts and was going to confront him about them when she asked him over on Friday. Now, he flips through her files marked "Important" and realizes that he is the sole heir named in her will.
