Chapter 2 Summary

Chapter 2 begins with an introduction to Neeve Kearny. She wakes up to learn of the eight inches of snow that has fallen. She thinks through work arrangements since both of her fitters probably won't be able to make it to work. She still lives with her father, Myles Kearny, who is a retired police commissioner. He already has coffee fixed when she goes in the kitchen. He was forced to retire when he suffered a massive heart attack. As they talk, Myles tells Neeve that Nicky Sepetti, the man whom Myles believes murdered his wife even though the crime was never solved, will get out of jail.

Myles calls Neeve a cab to take her to work. On her way to work, Neeve thinks about the way her father is still upset about his wife's death. She feels that he will always feel...
