Ireland
The vast majority of the story takes place in Ireland as Abby and her mother take a tourist trip of the island. Ireland is located in the North Atlantic, west of England. After landing in Dublin Airport, Abby and her mother spend the following days driving around the island and viewing the people and landscapes of its various counties. The story makes some allusions to the Irish Troubles, an extended period of civil unrest in Northern Ireland that lasted from 1968-1998. The conflict was ongoing at the time that this story was written.
Blarney
