Point of View
Lynn Weingarten tells her novel, "Wherever Nina Lies" from the first person-perspective of the main character and protagonist Ellie Wrigley. This is done for three reasons. First of all, since the plot focuses around Ellie's search for Nina, it is only natural to focus the plot around her. Secondly, Weingarten enables the readers to form an emotional bond to Ellie with which they can relate, making the search for the elusive Nina that much more compelling. Finally, due to the horrifying nature of the search, and the joy of the discovery of Nina, the first-person perspective allows the reader to fully understand, from a subjective point of view, the thoughts, feelings, and emotions experienced firsthand by Ellie.
