A press release goes out to celebrate the anniversary Bernadette Fox's twenty-mile house.The foundation celebrating the house is running a contest for the building of a new house.The only stipulation is the same as Bernadette's was for the original twenty-mile house—that all of the supplies come from within twenty miles of where the home is.
Paul, the professor, writes back to Jacob. He sends an article about Bernadette Fox—the most influential architect people have never heard of. The professor says they should respect Bernadette's wishes to be left alone. The article points out all of Bernadette's accomplishments, including receiving the McArthur Grant at the age of thirty-two, of being the pioneer of the green movement, and for building a house that no longer stands.
