The Effects of Drugs

Drugs have an effect on the individual, the community, and society as a whole. Several characters in this novel get into situations that are damaging or dangerous because of the drugs being consumed.

One of the biggest problems for these characters is the attitude that there is nothing really wrong with consuming marijuana, though some of them condemn the harder drugs. The two main characters are twins Christophe and Joshua who have just graduated high school as this novel opens. When Christophe fails to get a job quickly, his cousin Dunny sets Christophe up to sell marijuana. Dunny has been selling minor quantities for a while as a means of earning additional money to buy a home of his own. He believes he is doing Christophe a favor by making this arrangement for him, and Dunny begins to spread the word that Christophe...
