Summary

Part 3, Chapter 25 – Novalee and Americus head to McDonald’s for lunch and a playdate with Lexie and her kids. Certain and Moses are saddened that Novalee and Americus will soon be moving out. Certain tells Novalee before she leaves that a man named Ray has called again. At McDonald’s, Lexie asks how Forney is taking the news that Novalee is leaving. Novalee says Forney is sad, as any best friend would be. Lexie tells Novalee she is blind, that Forney is in love with her. But even then, Novalee doesn’t believe Lexie, because she believes Forney is not like them. He is sophisticated and educated. He has come from money, and "girls like her and Lexie don’t get the pick of the litter."
