Summary

In Chapter 7, Jo returns from another long day at work, to find Gabe waiting for her. Gabe says that Ursa has spent the day at his farm, during which time Ursa informed Gabe about Jo’s breast cancer (after Ursa had overheard Jo talking about it at the party). A cat on Gabe’s farm had given birth to kittens, which Ursa had proclaimed the second miracle.

In Chapter 8, Jo and Gabe go over to his house, which is surprisingly nice. Jo is introduced to his mother, Katherine Nash, who has a regal personality despite being sickly and needing care from Gabe. The four of them have dinner, and after this Ursa decides that the kittens should be named after Shakespeare characters. Gabe and Jo plan that Ursa will sleep at Jo’s house, and Jo will drop her off at Gabe’s...
