Summary
Chapter 9. As this chapter begins, conversation between Sequoyah and George refers to some of the strange things that seem to happen in Little Crow – church services involving snakes, the police allowing a brothel to stay in business, the women all dressing the same (with long hair and skirts, in a way that resembles how Rosemary dresses).
Narration then shifts to school, with Sequoyah having vivid and violent daydreams about one of his teachers. One day, Sequoyah goes with one of the boys from detention to the home of Horace Prairiewolf, who smokes marijuana with them. Sequoyah loses track of the time, and is late meeting Agnes, who had called both Liz and the police. The police assure Sequoyah that he is not in trouble, but on the ride home, Agnes suggests that Sequoyah needs to be more careful about choosing his friends...
