Summary
Chapter 6. One afternoon, Sequoyah watches Rosemary having an animated conversation with her friend Nora who, Sequoyah says, pays no attention to him. Later, when Rosemary and Nora have left and after he has had a phone call from Liz saying that his mother’s parole hearing is coming up, Sequoyah uses one of Agnes’ hairpins to break into Rosemary’s room. There, he goes through all her things and finds several things that seem important - reports from a test for epilepsy; art supplies; the name “Nora” written over and over again, more nicely than Rosemary’s other writing; and a couple of pictures of her tied up in her underwear. He also describes putting on one of her sweaters and applying his eyeliner. None of this, he says, was connected to any kind of sexual or emotional desire – just the instinctive...
