Summary
Chapter 4. “Looking back,” Sequoyah comments in narration, “I realize I wanted more than anything to be liked, accepted” (37). He describes his pattern of feeling anxious in each new bedroom, listing the different qualities of the different bedrooms he had been in up to this point in his life. He also describes how Harold and Agnes express pride in the achievements of both George and Rosemary, but only detailed George’s.
The next day, Rosemary takes George and Sequoyah to school, where Sequoyah feels awkward and uncomfortable, wanting to leave almost as soon as he gets there.
