Summary
In Chapter 22, Gert is frustrated when he learns that he was not told about the arrangements for Zelda and Marxy’s sexual encounter. Zelda responds by saying that she is independent from Gert and must do some things without his involvement. Zelda is sad when Marxy does not attend classes at the community center that week. Hamsa blames Zelda; Zelda grows angry, and she and Hamsa have a physical altercation. Zelda feels remorse, and she apologizes. Zelda begins to worry that she may be becoming more like a villain than a hero. Zelda goes to Marxy’s home to visit him. However, she is shocked to find that Marxy is watching television with Sarah-Beth. Marxy says that he does not want to be Zelda’s boyfriend anymore, and that he is Sarah-Beth’s boyfriend now.
