Summary
In Chapter 17, Zelda is working at the library on a Sunday. The library occasionally hosts reading events for young children. While supervising the event, Zelda notices that Hendo—one of the men she met at Toucan’s home—is there. Hendo has a young son named Artem. Hendo is also there with Artem’s mother. Hendo and the woman are not married. Zelda and Hendo converse, and they continue to develop a rapport. That night, Zelda has a dream in which she and Hendo are holding each other. When Zelda wakes up she feels ashamed, as she does not want to be disloyal to Marxy. In Chapter 18, Zelda continues to talk to Annie about sex.
