Summary
In Chapter 5, Zelda arrives at the local community center, where she takes classes specifically designed for people with cognitive disabilities. The teacher is a kind man named Todd. Todd is homosexual. Gert used to be homophobic, but he has worked on growing out of his homophobia in recent years. Zelda’s friends in the class include Marxy, a young man named Hamsa, and a young man who prefers to be called Yoda. In today’s class, Todd goes over personal finance and banking, teaching the students how to use checks and bank cards. Zelda is paired with a young woman named Sarah-Beth, whom Zelda dislikes. Zelda grows impatient with Sarah-Beth and yells at her. Zelda then apologizes when Todd tells her to do so.
