Glendale Park and Zoo
Glendale Park and Zoo is the primary setting for the novel. The operation is located in Nashville, Tennessee and owned by James and May Shackleford. Clive Lovett is the manager, and works directly under James. Other individuals involved with the operation include but are not limited to, Two, Crawford, Helen, Duncan, John, and Jack.
The start of the Glendale season is going smoothly until one day Two falls during one of her horse diving shows. In the weeks following, the Glendale family faces a litany of other conflicts. The new hire, Jack Older, particularly upsets the Glendale dynamics. Sick and dying animals, inexplicable pranks, and devious spirits further stir up the Glendale atmosphere. Over the course of the novel, the characters must learn how to communicate effectively in order to resolve these accruing debacles.
