Two Feathers
Two Feathers is the main character of the novel. She is a young, single Cherokee woman working as a horse diver in Nashville, Tennessee in 1926. Two has always been the most wild, courageous, and curious of her siblings. Therefore, her life on the Miller Brothers' One Hundred and One (101) Ranch with her family in Oklahoma does not satisfy the longings of her spirit. She decides to pursue her performance career when she is young. In the season prior to the narrative present, Two was kicked in the ribs by a horse, and forced to return home. The experience made her realize how much she needs her independence and autonomy. Therefore, as soon as she recovered, she found work with the Glendale park and zoo.
At the start of the novel, Two feels energized and excited. She is diving successfully, and is beginning to make friends at Glendale...
