Part 1, Natal: Chapters 28-30 Summary
The next morning when they see the dome of Isandhlwana, Mbejane says there have been no patrols, and no smoke. Sean looks up, startled to see a large wheel in the sky. The vultures are so plentiful, it is difficult to distinguish one from the other as the fly in a slow circle above the camp. Sean runs and as he gets close his worst fears are realized. The entire troop is dead, the Ladyburg men among them. He and Mbejane bury Waite, and Sean is lost for words as he stands above his grave.
