Summary
Pages 214 - 242 -- Jacob is focused on the younger looter who had been killed in front of him, and feels haunted by the memory of his death, and his family's fear. Jacob heads to Bishop Schrock's house, and on the way meets a ragged man walking on the street. Jacob has a conversation with him, and gives him some food to take back to his girlfriend. When Jacob arrives at Bishop Schrock's house he hears the latest rumors: people are leaving the city in huge numbers, and the police and armed civilians are setting up barricades to prevent those who are fleeing from entering their neighborhoods. People are starving in the streets, and setting up makeshift tents as they travel from place to place looking for food. Bishop Schrock and Jacob are unsure of what to do, and do not feel like staying behind...
