Black Socketed, Blind -

This is another journaling entry whose prompt encourages Laura to write about her mother. Laura scoffs on paper about the prompt since her mother died when Laura was four. She says that she has very little memory and that what she does recall may or may not be a real memory, but rather something she was told about her mother. She lists what those are.

First, she recalls seeing her mother putting a sick chicken out of its misery by cutting off its head with an ax. She also remembers afterwards seeing her mother washing feathers and blood from her hands. Another memory is of her mother swinging her by the chubby arms around and around and the laughter, until she hit her ankle on a tree. She recalls...
