Summary
In Chapter 26, Luke cleaned out Natalie’s clothes from the closet, storing them in the attic. While cleaning up the shattered vase and flowers he had thrown against the wall days ago, he decided to read the letter which had accompanied it. Natalie talked about the day his mother had been found, when she had found him in her shed. They had lost their virginity to each other and afterward Natalie had tried to tell Luke his mother was dead. He had slapped her and Natalie had been terrified of him, thinking he was like his father. She said she knew on meeting him again he was nothing like his dad but worried about the anger he kept inside. Luke was angry after reading the letter, not wanting to relive this memory.
