Summary

In Chapter 3, Winston and his team found tracks indicating that a vehicle had met the plane, and then departed the scene with a heavy load. Rodney Bellamy’s wife had reported him missing after he left in the night to pick up diapers for their newborn baby. Englehart, a young deputy, was quick to suggest that the plane had been delivering drugs, and he scorned the idea of a Black man being out on an innocent errand. The county commissioner (Leonard Dorsey) wanted to get rid of the plane so business could resume at the airport, despite Winston’s determination to protect the crime scene. The airport manager (Hugh Sweetney) told them that getting it off the ground would be beyond his expertise.
