Chapters 59 and 60 Summary
In Chapter 59, after the Grapes dance, they drink some beer and then call the ambulance. Janice insists on calling, but Gilbert insists on not allowing Janice to call. Gilbert even rips the phone cord from the wall and carries the phone into his room.
In Chapter 60, it takes three hours for the Grapes to move all of their belongings out of the house. Larry leaves and comes back with a gas can. They all say goodbye to Momma and then Larry pours gasoline around the house. The other Grapes are sitting on the couch in the yard facing the house. They hear the match light and Larry runs out of the house. They sit there and watch the house burn down as the police sirens show through the trees.
