Chapters 45 and 46 Summary

In Chapter 45, Gilbert starts to sort through his belongings and pack his suitcase when Amy comes into Gilbert's room to tell him Arnie decided he wants to watch the big screen at the church. In the middle of the night, Gilbert hears Arnie, as if Arnie has had a bad drea,. When Gilbert goes into Arnie's room, Arnie tells Gilbert not to go. Gilbert catches his mother in a conversation with someone about Arnie being dirty and about her decision to not put Arnie in a home, but when Gilbert walks in nobody is in the room and she is not talking on the phone. As Gilbert goes to bed, he decides he's leaving. When Gilbert wakes up, he realizes he is leaving with nowhere to go.
