Chapters 23 and 24 Summary

In Chapter 23, when Gilbert gets to the water tower, a crowd is standing at the bottom. Arnie is showing off and one of his shoes falls to the ground. Gilbert climbs up the water tower, gets Arnie and climbs back down. The Sherriff tells Gilbert that he is taking Arnie to jail because they warned Gilbert and Amy that the next time Arnie did this they would arrest him, and this is the next time. As Gilbert drives away, he sees Becky eating a peach and standing with an older woman, who must be her grandma, in the crowd. Gilbert, Amy and Momma drive in Amy's car to the jail to get Arnie.
