Chapters 9 and 10 Summary
In Chapter 9, as Ellen and Gilbert are driving home, Gilbert tries to get information about Becky from Ellen. Ellen pretends she doesn't know who Gilbert is talking about to pay him back for running over the lawn chair this morning. When Gilbert goes in, he finds Amy and his mom watching TV and Arnie asleep in the closet. He carries Arnie upstairs to tuck him in and comes back downstairs to say goodnight to his mom and sisters. Mrs. Grape exclaims that she almost called Gilbert, Albert, and how Gilbert is the spitting image of his father. After his mother stomps her feet on the floor and Gilbert tells her not to do that, she chastises him as he goes up to bed.
In Chapter 10, Gilbert sits on the upstairs toilet with the lid down talking on the phone to Tucker...
