Summary
In Chapter 24, the Bergen-Belsen survivors continue to heal but Gerta worries her voice is gone for good. Her flirtation with Michah continues while Lev writes to her. In Chapter 25, Gerta gets her period again for the first time since the beginning of the war. In Chapter 26, Lev writes Gerta a heartfelt letter about his experience leading up to the war. In Chapter 27, Michah and Gerta kiss in a dark passageway. He asks if she will join his group heading to Eretz Yisrael; when she asks if her friend can come too and he says no, she gets a bad feeling and rushes away. She bumps into Lev and tells him that she likes receiving his letters.
