KB

KB is the protagonist of the novel. She is the one who finds her father when he dies. She is upset over her relationship with her sister, Nia because Nia is distant. KB does not understand that her sister is growing up and needs privacy. She is also totally unable to read her sister’s emotions or intentions. When Nia is distant, KB takes this as an insult against her. KB can be emotionally volatile at times towards her sister and can move from feelings of deep affection to feelings of hatred within seconds.

KB’s main conflict through the novel is an interpersonal one. She is suffering and alone. She does not know how to process all of the trauma that has happened to her.
