Summary
In "Taffia," it was April 2010 in Port-au-Prince's Bel Air neighborhood. In the months following the earthquake, Taffia could not believe how much her life had changed. She remembered how excited she and her friends were to watch the new episodes of their favorite telenovela. She was obsessed with the show, and often wondered which characters her family and friends would be. The earthquake struck when she and her friends were "waiting to walk over to Tatie's to watch the show" (130). Everything rapidly turned to rubble. The air was filled with an "unnatural snow" (130). Bodies filled the streets. Taffia and her brother Paul tried to find Tatie, but she was gone. Afterwards, they went home and found their father shaken. Everyone was running and screaming.
