Chapter 7 Summary

Jamie, Patty and Nin stayed in the rest of the weekend. Jamie fantasized that the three of them were the only people left alive on earth after everyone else had been killed by a huge bomb. But Earl survived, too, and would come and visit them. His job was to find food that wasn't contaminated from the blast. On Monday, Jamie didn't want to go to school and told Patty that he was still sick. Patty easily related to how he felt. She got the kids in the car and they drove to the package store where Patty used the phone to call in sick to the grocery store where she worked part-time as a bagger.
