As If: Chapters 1-6 Summary

This novel is written in four interrelated short stories that feature the same characters. Each story progresses forward in a linear fashion that allows the reader to see the changes and growth of the characters over time.

Chapter 1. It is the last day of first grade and Asa is happily making his way home to show his perfect report card to his parents. Asa also comes home with a new book from the librarian and a bunch of radishes he grew himself as part of a class project.
