East Middle School

A decent amount of the action in the novel takes place in or because of East Middle School. It is the school in Madison, Wisconsin that Anna Hunt transfers to when her family moves to the city. The school had an incident the year before with a fire in a barn, and Anna spends most of the novel trying to figure out what exactly happened because no one at the school wants to talk about it. The school has a problem with sexual harassment, and some of those in authority do not take the harassment seriously.
