Chapters 9-12 Summary
Chapter 9
As Chapter 9 opens, Mclean wakes up to a snowy world. She is not very used to snow. Her father comments that hopefully this will keep Chuckles delayed at the airport so they have more time to get ready. The restaurant still isn't doing well. Mclean asks if he had gotten the message from the Councilwoman left the night before, and he admits that he's been trying to avoid her.
After her dad leaves, Mclean gets a phone call from her mother who is trying to get her to come to a party. Mclean loses her cool and for the first time confronts her mother about the choices that she made. Her mother comments that at some point Mclean is going to realize that she can't place all the blame on her mother.
Distraught, Mclean walks into town and finds herself...
