Summary
Nina's life returns to her regular routine. Around Thanksgiving Nina misses her period and takes a pregnancy test. It's positive. Even though Nina took all the birth control pills in her first pack, she didn't take all of them according to the correct schedule. She returns to Planned Parenthood and sees the same nurse practitioner, named Angie, who confirms the pregnancy with another test. Without any hesitation and with complete certainty, Nina chooses to end her pregnancy with a medical abortion. She learns that a medical abortion involves taking medication both in the clinic and at home, and waiting for "the uterus to empty" (106). Nina asks the nurse if she has ever had an abortion.
