Port Furlong, Washington
Katherine entices Isaac to move to Port Furlong after the two are married. She vacationed there as a child and she loved the Northwest. It has surrounded by islands for explorations and has a small town feel to it. Katherine description is: "it has boats and music and old hippies jigging by a fountain" (23). Port furlong represents any small town in the sense that has fairly low crime rates and people know their neighbors. It appears idyllic, which makes the murder/suicide of Daniel and Jonah all the more horrific. When Jonah orchestrates his suicide, he even hand picks the officer he hopes will find his body as he knows this officer will console his bereft mother.
